Volleyball- one of, in my opinion, one of the most fun sports around. I am almost certain that you already know what volleyball is- after all, why else would you be reading this article? However, for those who have never even heard the word volleyball, here is some background information. Volleyball is usually either played on the beach, in a grassy area, or on a volleyball "court" of sorts.
The volleyball area is dividing in half by a raised mesh net. The ball must be hit over the net and into the other teamís area. If the ball lands out of bounds, the opposite team gains a point. You must hit the ball over the net and into the other teamís area within three hits on your side. If you hit the ball more than three times before it is hit onto the other teams side, then the other team gets a point. †
If the ball hits the ground on your watch, then the other team will get a point. There are several players on each team, and several valid techniques for hitting the ball. One technique is bunching your hands together into a combined fist of sorts, with both thumbs facing upward and the arms full extended in front. The ball should land on your hands, in which case you push it back up, directing it over the net or to another player.
You can also "spike" it where you your hands just a little above your head with your hands in a half outstretched, half closed position, closing them and thus pushing the ball up when it lands on your hands. Volleyball, like almost every other sport, requires funds for equipment and events. If you are interested in volleyball fundraising, it would do you good to consider Americaís Fundraising.
